Wawanesa Auto Insurance
Wawanesa auto insurance is owned by its policyholders. Coal-oil lamp and wooden threshing machine accidents may not be as common as they were when Wawanesa Mutual Insurance was founded on the Canadian plains in 1896, but the property/casualty insurer still has plenty to keep it busy. The company, one of the largest mutual insurers in Canada, offers commercial and personal lines, including business, farm, homeowner, and automobile policies. It also owns a demutualized life insurer, Wawanesa Life. Wawanesa operates throughout Canada as well as in California and Oregon. The company sells its products through some 1,300 independent agents (except in Quebec where company agents handle the distribution).

Funny name-GREAT company-Wawanesa Insurance
Pros: Cost, payment plans, coverages, and customer service unsurpassed
Cons: Limited to Calif, Canada, Nevada. Won't provide quotes on the phone, but most won't.
What brought me to Wawanesa:
So, you are no doubt curious how I ever heard about Wawanesa Insurance. I'll share with you. I was frustrated with high rates at one company (AAA) even though my driving record was very good.
No ads, no frills, GREAT value from the insurance company you never heard of
Pros: AMAZING value for premium paid. Fair treatment from customer service.
Cons: You have to fill out a questionnaire, then mail it to San Diego
Wawanesa automobile insurance is an amazing value for the money. They are very fair to deal with. You will be so very glad you contacted them for your insurance needs. Please read on (skim if you need to) my somewhat lengthly review for particulars.
Cheap and they're there when you need them!
Pros: Low prices, good customer service, good claims department, respected, and pay by Internet.
Cons: Good Drivers only, limited Internet functions, no $1,000 deductible option.
Wawanesa is the third company I have been insured under. My first insurance company had excellent customer service and was there when I needed them. The problem was they cost an arm and a leg.
